Automotive Instincts was founded under its original name, Steve's Independent, in 1987 with the goal of providing the highest quality service and repairs for your Honda or Acura automobile at affordable prices. In 1998, after hundreds of requests from our customers, we began servicing most other makes and models of Japanese automobiles including Toyota, Lexus, Nissan and Infiniti. We still specialize in  Acura, Honda, Lexus & Toyota cars. We are ASE certified and Auto Club approved repair center.

Meet the Business Owner: Steve Summers
Steve started out working at Van Nuys Honda in 1972 on motorcycles. He made the transition to cars in 1975 at Hollywood Honda. He has been working on and around Honda cars most of his adult life. He decided to go out on his own in 1987 and he has never looked back. Being able to take care of people and have them tell a friend is the greatest feeling (like a hole-in-one).

He has a wife named Joan, 3 girls, Christie, Michelle and Samantha and a Dog (Nicki, also a girl) and a love for golf.

Steve believes in that old saying "treat others like you would like to be treated". He lives his life by this credo!

We buy original equipment parts, in most cases, straight from the dealer. Sure, not using cheap aftermarket replacements and untrained technicians cost us more, but it’s the best assurance we can give that your car will be fixed right the first time. In addition, you can be sure you’ll get maximum reliability from your car since all of our services meet or exceed factory recommendations. This not only keeps your factory warranty intact, it will save you time and money in the long run.
